Introduction

I acknowledged Chaos Theory when I first discoverded fractals about three years ago, I was then studying mathematics in the university of Bristol, straight away I loved them, they captured my attention, they were fantastic "things", magic and beautiful, I don't really know how to say, it is their infinity, their "bizzarerie" ; it was like the world around me, I could not really understand. It felt so realistic. I thought, there is something there, important, true, like a key for the kingdom of God, for the appreciation, the understanding of life...My idea of the time was to create a virtual world of a fractal in 3 dimensions, and to have a virtual camera travelling through it, make a short movie where we would travel (maybe with fractal music) in the magic world of a fractals, of chaos. It would be like a rollercoast type thing.... that project has not got further than a thought, an idea, it actually feels quite difficult to concretise... maybe one day, I or somebody else will realise it, and we will be able to travel in the fractional dimension.

There is no E=mc˛ type of equation to sum up the essence of Chaos Theory. Take a lump of bread, place two raisins next to each other on the dough and begin kneading it. As each fold rearrenge the dough, the raisins are moved about. Despite the fact that they were next to each other initially, the raisins may end up far appart. Because the final position of a raisin varies greatly with respect to ist original position, we say that the system exhibits sensitive dependance on initial conditions. Our bread dough is chaotic.
